Accessibility

The Commencement ceremony will be held in the center of campus in front of the Colonnade, a short walk from the parking garage. Convenient access to the law and undergraduate ceremony is available for all who are able to walk only short distances, have difficulty climbing steps, use a wheelchair, or need other special assistance. The University reserves parking spaces on Washington and Jefferson Streets immediately adjacent to the site of the ceremony and arranges for special seating at the ceremony when requested.

W&L provides sign-language interpreters for the ceremony. Service dogs and family members in wheelchairs are welcome. Lexington Prescription Center (540-463-9166) is a local source for wheelchair rentals. Guests who have special needs in order to enjoy the ceremonies, including special seating in view of the interpreters, should contact Ethan Kipnes, Director of Public Safety, by e-mail (ekipnes@wlu.edu) or phone (540-458-8427).

Transportation to Area Hotels

Due to limited local hotel availability for the Class of 2020 Commencement ceremony, the university will provide bus transportation to guests staying in the room blocks at hotels in Natural Bridge and Staunton.
