Dance 202 – Dance Europe

Four credits, EXP, FDR-HA
One week on campus, three weeks in England

This class spends three weeks experiencing world-class dance and musical theatre performances at large theatres, small black box venues and pop-up spaces. We will tour onstage and backstage at historic spaces like the Royal Opera & Ballet, Royal Albert Hall and the National Theatre, visit the British Library's dance archives, and attend guest lectures by professional dancers and choreographers. We will travel to Liverpool to see and participate in aerial dance, experience the Beatles museum, and interact with seaside sculptural art. Ability to dance and dance experience is not required but there will be opportunities to take classes.

Week 1: London prep in Lexington.

Week 2-4: Three weeks in London with a 4-day excursion to Liverpool.

Prerequisite: 2 credits, Winter term, DANC201: Artistic Identity in Contemporary Modern Dance.
