BUS 367 – Social Innovation in Scandinavia
Four credits, EXP
3 weeks in Scandinavia; 1 week on campus
Professor Drew Hess
Social Innovation in Scandinavia introduces students to the business, history, and culture behind the sustainability initiative in Scandinavia. This course takes a theoretical and practical look at why and how social innovation has flourished in Scandinavia.
We will meet with representatives from socially-minded businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as government agencies that are focused on the broad notion of sustainability. The class examines various approaches to tackling such pressing problems as climate change, immigration, economic and gender equality.
The class plan is as follows: We will spend 10 days in Stockholm, travel by train for a two-night stay in the most sustainable city in the world (Gothenburg), and finish our travels with a week in Copenhagen. We will spend the last week of spring term on campus in Lex.
This class counts as a BUS international elective and counts towards the ENT and ENV programs as well. There are no prerequisites for this course.
