General Information Meeting for Spring Term Abroad

Applications open on October 4th, 2024, and are due by 5:00 pm on Oct. 21st, 2024. You may apply for up to two courses but please indicate clearly in the application questionnaire if it is your first or second choice.

BUS 369 – Green Information Systems

ICELAND. Cultural excursions throughout the country focus on the history, culture, geology, and economy of Iceland to better understand the significance of Iceland's shift to "extreme tech" to attain eco-sustainability.

CLAS 288 – Rome: The Eternal City

ITALY: Grow familiar with the broad outlines of Roman history, the topography of ancient Rome, important archaeological sites in Naples, Herculaneum, Cumae, Misenum, and Pompeii, and features of the modern Roman city and Italian culture that have permitted so much of ancient Rome to survive to the present.

EEG 373 – Regional Geology of New Zealand

NEW ZEALAND. A deep dive into the geology of the region, grounded in an appreciation of Māori understanding and worldview as it relates to the natural world and the environment.

GERM 305 - Traces of Empire

AUSTRIA. A cultural studies and German-language immersion course based in Vienna, with the final week spent with host families in Graz, Austria

JOUR 299 – Reporting and Communicating the Climate Crisis in Barbados

BARBADOS. Over three weeks on the island, students will learn about the impact of colonialism and industrialization and how the female prime minister of Barbados is leading the way for poorer nations to hold wealthier countries accountable for their culpability in the climate crisis.

MUS 239 – Haydn and Mozart: A Musical Tour of Prague and Vienna

CZECH REPUBLIC and AUSTRIA. Trace the musical development of Mozart and Haydn in a historical and geographical context. Immerse yourself in the works of the two composers and explore the various cultural and biographical elements that influenced their compositional styles.
