THTR 204 – Swedish Theater

Four credits (FDR HA, EXP)
1 week on campus, three weeks in Sweden

During this course students see various forms of Swedish theatrical entertainment including plays, musicals, concerts, opera, dance, and circus. Students will develop a method for critically analyzing the theatrical productions they experience with an emphasis on the extent to which the Swedish cultural and social context impacts the production. Artists create unique performances which imitation of human action, and students taking this class will explore how Swedish culture, environment, and personal experience influence the Artist's work. Students will have the opportunity to meet with Swedish students engaging them about their perspectives regarding both Swedish and American performance. No Swedish language is required for this class as most Swedes speak fluent English. This course fulfills FDR HA and EXP.

Program fee (Paid to W&L): $4,195
Includes programming, room, fees, ground transportation. Breakfast will be included every day, as well as a few other meals.

Additional costs: airfare, books, most lunches and dinners, cell phone, spending money, gift for family meal host, COVID-19 testing, passport, and visa fees (if applicable)
