DANC 202 – Dance Europe

Four credits, FDR-HA, EXP
One week on campus, three weeks in the United Kingdom

We will see dance and musical theatre dance performances at national theatres, small black box venues and pop-up spaces. Ability to dance and dance experience is not a requirement but there will be opportunities to take master classes and we will have the chance to experience aerial dance with Wired Aerial Theatre, a professional rope & harness and bungee company. We will take tours of the Royal Opera & Ballet, the famous Drury Lane Theatre, visit the British Library's dance archives, and attend guest lectures by professional dancers and choreographers.

Week 1: London prep in Lexington.
Week 2-4: Three weeks in London with a 4-day excursion to Liverpool.
(no dance experience necessary)

Prerequisite: 2 credits, Winter term, DANC201: Artistic Identity in Contemporary Modern Dance. Permission of Instructor.

This trip is immersive and so much fun! There are only 8-10 seats available so let Jenny (daviesj@wlu.edu) know if you have questions or are interested in participating.

Program fee: $ 5,402
Includes programming, room, a few meals, fees, ground transportation.

Additional costs: airfare, books, most meals, cell phone, spending money, dance classes in London, COVID-19 testing, and visa fees (if applicable)
