Drawing Italy is a studio art immersion course. Living and drawing on site in Corciano, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Naples and Rome with day trips to Assisi, Perugia, Cortona, Spello and other important cultural sites. Students will explore Italy's vast artistic heritage within its cultural context, then apply this experience to their own art while working in the distinctive Mediterranean light. Media include pen & ink, pastel, acrylic paint and mixed media. Student work will be exhibited in Italy at the end of the term and in Wilson Hall in the fall of 2019 (during Family Weekend).
Prerequisite: ARTS 111 and instructor consent. The course fulfills FDR (HA) and EXP (Experiential Learning)
Program Fee (paid to W&L): $5,335. This includes all forms of transportation in Italy, lodging, approximately 2/3 meals, museums/monuments entrance fees.
Estimated Additional Expenses: Airfare - $1,600; Cell Phone - $50; meals not included in program fee - $700; miscellaneous spending money.
