Professor Joseph Martinez
An intensive exposure to English theater and the current season in London. In addition to a full schedule of theater attendance, the course includes a study of theater training, production techniques and representative styles and periods of English drama.
This popular course will begin with an orientation session in London on Monday, April 27, 2015 and conclude in London on May 22, 2015. The entire course will be conducted in the greater London area. The students will attend matinee or evening performance events (plays, operas, musicals, etc.). Following each performance event, the students and professor will engage in a group discussion on production values, theatrical interpretation, audience responses, context of performance history, performance techniques, etc. A written play review for each theater performance attended is required, along with a daily journal and a summary paper at the conclusion of the course. Several seminars conducted by English theater artists are also planned.
