Transact: Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What company has W&L partnered with to provide this service?
Transact is contracted to provide the e-billing services. Our contract ensures that the processes are compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act.

2.  May I still receive a paper bill?
The Business Office does not provide paper billing statements. All students have access to online services and can print paper copies if needed.

3.  Why is there a fee to make payments with my credit card?
W&L has chosen not to absorb the cost for merchant processing fees. A convenience fee of 2.85% (Domestic) will be billed as a separate transaction by Transact Payments to your credit card. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards will be accepted. All International credit card payments will be assessed a fee of 4.25%

4.  Where do I mail a check to pay my bill?
Please include the name and id for the student account on the check or money order and mail to:

5.  Can I pay my bill in person?
Yes, with a check or cash. You are welcome to visit the Business Office located at 2 South Main Street, Second Floor. Note this is NOT the same address as the mailing address above.

6.  How do I make a Non-U.S. Bank payment?
Wire transfer payments can be made, with no fee from Washington and Lee University. However, other fees may be applied in the wire process by the sender bank or intermediary bank(s). Please contact businessoffice@wlu.edu for wiring instructions.

7.  How do I set up parents and/or guardian for access to wluPay?
You can grant access to others to view your bill statements and other account information on wluPay. To do this, click "Send a payer invitation" at the bottom of Transact's overview page, and provide the name and email of the person you would like to invite to view your account on wluPay. Transact will send an email to the individual you set up.
