Painting and Drawing

About the Program

The painting and drawing program combines traditional techniques with contemporary approaches to making art. Painting students are exposed to both acrylic and oil paint, as well as mixed media approaches. Drawing students employ a range of media, including graphite, charcoal, ink and mixed media. Students can major or minor in Studio Art, with a concentration in painting and drawing.

Facilities and Equipment

Wilson Hall's state-of-the-art painting and drawing studios feature spacious, well-lit working areas with high ceilings. Natural light is provided by floor-to-ceiling windows with double doors opening on balconies overlooking scenic Woods Creek. Ample storage racks allow students to store work while focusing on multiple projects throughout the semester. These rooms provide an inspiring environment for students to grow as developing young artists. Students have access to heavy duty adjustable steel easels, tabarets for storage of personal materials, storage racks and flat files, and miscellaneous tools and materials for building various supports
