Professional Licensure Disclosures - Education
All programs, regardless of modality, are required to provide general (public) and direct (individual) disclosures to students in programs that lead to licensure or certification. This rule applies to educational programs that are either:
- Designed to meet education requirements for a specific professional license or certification that is required for employment in an occupation
- Advertised as meeting such requirements
Per U.S. Federal Regulations (34 CFR 668.43), Washington and Lee University provides the following disclosure related to the educational requirements for professional licensure and certification in Teacher Education.
The State of Virginia participates in the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC). The NASDTEC Interstate Agreement facilitates the mobility of educators among the states and other jurisdictions that are members of NASDTEC and have signed the Agreement. All jurisdictions that participate in the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement may choose to have additional requirements for educators who are coming from another jurisdiction. These additional requirements are known as "Jurisdiction Specific Requirements" (JSRs). Most times these additional requirements vary upon the educator's years of experience. Some jurisdictions, however, consider themselves "full-reciprocity" and do not have any additional requirements. The table below indicates whether the W&L education program meets the requirements for educators in other state jurisdictions. Links to each state's teacher certification authority are included. The requirements of these jurisdictions may also be reviewed at the NASDTEC website.
