ITS has a variety of licensing options for students, faculty and staff to configure the video conferencing tool as specific needs arise. When reviewing the new set up options, it helps to first understand the difference between a "meeting" and a "webinar".
Zoom meetings are ideal for hosting more interactive sessions where you'll want to have lots of audience participation or break your session into smaller groups. Think of webinars like a virtual lecture hall or auditorium. Typically, webinar attendees do not interact with one another. Zoom support offers a detailed comparison here.
Large meeting licensing (up to 500 participants):
- This license increases the existing participant cap from 300 to 500. All Zoom functionality remains the same.
- ITS can assign a dedicated license to employees with an ongoing justified need.
- ITS manages a license check-out process to share among student organizations.
Shared webinar participant licensing:
- Up to 500 webinar participants: 8 licenses available to reserve.
- Shared webinar licensing is available for check-out via the ITS Help Desk on an as-needed basis.
- Shared licensing is centrally managed by ITS. There is no cost to departments.
Dedicated licensing needs:
- Can include a large meeting for 1,000 participants or dedicated webinar for 100, 500, 1,000 or 3,000 participants.
- Requests for dedicated licensing can be made using this form.
- All dedicated licensing (other than Large Meeting for 500 participants) will be cross-charged to the requesting department. (Cost per license is included on the form).
