<p><strong>A Message to the University Community</strong><br /><strong>From Eric Owsley, Director of Digital Strategy</strong></p>
<p>Hello and welcome to the new dashboard. Here are five key things to know about the new page:</p>
<ol>
<li>We've <strong>added a global navigation header</strong> matching the top-level links found on every other page of the Washington and Lee University website.</li>
<li>We've <strong>made the "notices" section aware of your role</strong> as an employee, student or parent and have added additional departmental announcements to category-based groupings, ensuring that content will always be new and relevant.</li>
<li>The new page is built on a platform that will -- in the not too distant future -- allow for <strong>single-sign-on and true intranet capabilities</strong>, giving additional access to services and information tailored to you.</li>
<li>The new <strong>page is extensible</strong>, meaning we can add new sections as needs arise without having to worry about space constraints or page load limits.</li>
<li>We'll have <strong>more accurate and meaningful page usage statistics</strong> to help identify the most important and frequently accessed items for each audience. That data will be used to make refinements to the page over time.</li>
</ol>
<p>As with any new website, ensuring compatability with computer operating systems, browsers and screen sizes is an important quality assurance measure. <h3 class="mt-4 mb-3">Useful Tips and Suggestions</h3>

<li><strong>Make use of the customized quicklinks at the top of the page.</strong> Looking for the lengthy list of links to offices and services? Instead of scrolling or navigating to the bottom of the page each time, select your favorites and let them display at the top of the page. <em>Note: If a link you need is not listed, <a href="owsleye@wlu.edu?subject=Dashboard Link">let Eric know</a>.</em></li>
<li><strong>The content in the "notices" and "events" sections is only as good as the community makes it. </strong>These sections are populated by Campus Notices. Make sure your official announcements and event promotions are advertised in Campus Notices.<br /><em>Note: If you don't know how to post to Campus Notices or you don't have the correct permissions to do so on behalf of your department, <a href="mammarellas@wlu.edu?subject=Campus Notices Inquiry">let Steve know</a>.</em></li>
<li><strong>Hold departments accountable. </strong>If hours of operation or eatery menu items are incorrect, let the department know.</li>
