About Us

The CommCenter offers professional consultations via Zoom with individuals and groups on writing or oral presentations. CommCenter consultants assist students at any stage of the creative process. The CommCenter Practice Room in Huntley 301 offers classroom space and audiovisual capabilities for students who wish to practice oral presentations on their own.

Writers and presenters of all ability levels can benefit from meeting with the CommCenter consultants. Consultants help you say what you need to say as well as you can, show you strategies for revising and self-editing, and refer you to appropriate sources for help on matters that aren't solved during the appointment. All help given conforms to the W&L honor code.

Oral Presentations

For assistance with an oral presentation, reply to your Zoom meeting invitation with supporting materials such as outline, notes, speech draft, or slide deck. Your consultant will observe as you practice your presentation or review your notes with you. You and your consultant will discuss the presentation's strengths and weaknesses. Sessions are scheduled in 30-minute blocks and vary depending on the needs of the student and the nature of the project.
