About The Exhibition
Las Hermanas Iglesias are a collaborative team of two sisters, Lisa and Janelle Iglesias, who have collaborated heavily over the past ten years alongside their individual practices rooted in drawing and sculpture. With mischief and buoyancy, the works in MIRROR RIM complicate borders or assumptions about and between mediums as the artists co-opt and repurpose everyday materials that celebrate multiple viewpoints through transparency - lenses, privacy screens, mirrors, and portals - pushing ideas of dimensionality and ways of seeing. Lisa received her MFA from the University of Florida where she is now an Assistant Professor. Janelle earned her MFA degree in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and recently relocated to Southern California. The sisters' individual and collaborative work has been shown in spaces around the country including El Museo del Barrio, Queens Museum and Abrons Art Center.
