Jill Waity is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Jill Waity is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She attended Washington and Lee University, where she graduated with a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. After working at a nonprofit in Baltimore, Maryland, Jill attended graduate school at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She earned both her MA and Ph.D. in Sociology at Indiana University. Her specialty areas include Poverty, Stratification and Inequality, Community, Policy, Public Sociology, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
She is currently working on research projects involving Spatial Inequalities in Food Insecurity and Access to Food
Assistance and RuralXurban Differences in Program Participation. Jill has taught a variety of courses including Social Problems, Sociology of Poverty, Sociology of the Family, Sociology of the Community and Introduction to Sociology. In her free time, Jill enjoys running, cooking, and traveling.
