Confidential Resources

Any individual affected by sexual misconduct, whether as a complainant, a respondent, or a third party, will have equal access to support and counseling services through the University. Individuals are encouraged to use all available resources, regardless of when or where the incident occurred.

If you are seeking confidential consultation, there are several resources available to provide confidential support, both on campus and in the local and state community. These trained professionals can provide counseling, information, and support under legally protected confidentiality. Because these relationships involve privileged conversations, these confidential resources will not share information with the Title IX Coordinator or any other employee of the University without the individual's express permission. They may, however, submit non-identifying information about the incident for purposes of making a statistical report under the Clery Act.

Student Reporting Advisors

A group of students have been trained to serve as Student Reporting Advisors. Reporting Advisors are available to meet wtih student with concerns related to sexual misconduct to informally explain potentially applicable University policies and resolution options. Although conversations with a Reporting Advisor are not privileged like with a University Counselor, a Reporting Advisor is not an employee of W&L and is not required to report any disclosed misconduct to the University administration. Thus, speaking with a Reporting Advisor is not making a report to the University. However, the Reporting Advisor, with permission from the student, can assist a student in contacting the University and making a report.
