The Global Discovery Laboratories administer quizzes, tests, and examinations to students through the GDL Support Center, Room 135, in the Center for Global Learning. All hard copy and digital quizzes, tests, and examinations must be signed out on the electronic system upon entry to the GDL. All hard copy testing materials must be returned to the GDL Technology and Learning Specialist upon completion. Upon completion of the quiz, test, or examination, the student must enter the time of completion using the same electronic system in the GDL Support Center. The GDL will using recommended best practices for Coronavirus safety from Washington and Lee University Guidelines, the CDC, the Department of Health, as well as the state of Virginia to maintain the wellbeing of students, professors, and specialists when administering tests.
For proper placement, first-year students who wish to continue in a language they studied in high school must take a placement test in the language. The procedures for taking these tests are described in this section, and the test could take on-average fifteen to thirty minutes.
Students majoring in French, Spanish, and German languages are tested prior to graduation. The following test helps determine their level of proficiency.
