COVID-19 Vaccination Information Updated April 7, 2022
Getting our campus community vaccinated is a priority, and W&L continues to partner with the Central Shenandoah Health District (CSHD) and local providers to promote vaccination clinics and resources in the Lexington area.
COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster Requirement Information
All students and employees are required to be fully vaccinated with either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine unless they have been approved for a medical or religious exemption. All students and employees are required to receive a COVID-19 booster within 30 days of becoming eligible for a booster dose, unless they have been approved for a medical or religious exemption. The Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines are preferred for booster doses (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html), though the university will accept the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine booster for individuals if medically indicated.
If you have an approved exemption from the vaccine requirement, you are also exempt from the booster requirement.
If you recently tested positive for COVID-19, you have up to 90 days after your positive test result but should get your booster dose as soon as your symptoms resolve.
COVID-19 Vaccine Availability
COVID-19 vaccines are not given on campus, but are available locally through the Virginia Department of Health, the Rockbridge Area Health Center and at local pharmacies. The Vaccinate.Virginia.gov website is a good resource for finding and scheduling a COVID-19 vaccine.
