This afternoon, Governor Northam issued a statewide order to close certain non-essential businesses, ban all gatherings of more than 10 people, and close all K-12 schools for the remainder of the academic year. Governor Northam also urged all Virginians to avoid non-essential travel outside the home, if and when possible.

This order goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, and will remain in place until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 23.

Campus Facilities: Access and Hours

Here on campus, operating hours and access to campus facilities continue to evolve in light of new guidance and restrictions:

  • Student Health Center: To reduce the risks of viral transmission, the Student Health Center (SHC) is trying to space out visits and take care of as many needs as possible by phone or other communication tools. While the center remains open from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, the doors are now locked. Students with a medical healthcare need or question should call 540-458-8401 to speak with an SHC staff member before visiting the center.
  • Leyburn and Telford Libraries: In an effort to further limit personal interaction for the health and safety of our community, Leyburn and Telford Libraries' physical spaces will be closed to all students effective Monday, March 23, and will close to all after March 27. Library staff will continue to support students, faculty and staff remotely. More information about available services is on the website.
  • Meal Service: Meals are available for purchase to students who have registered with Student Affairs, as well as faculty and staff who continue to work on campus, on a take-out only basis from the Marketplace through Sunday, March 29. Beginning on Monday, March 30, meal service will move to Evans Hall. Hours are posted online.

More hours and information about campus facilities are available online.
