Career & Networking Events
Tap into the power and collective knowledge of the W&L alumni network through Career & Networking Events. We know our alumni are always looking for ways to connect with fellow Generals to network, learn, share ideas and gain experience. Learn how to initiate a local networking gathering in your area, plan chapter-wide career and networking events, or participate in University-wide programs and events below.
Have you ever wanted to get together with a small group of local alumni in your field but didn’t know how to make those connections? The Career and Professional Development Office is excited to provide a platform that enables our alumni to initiate and host small, intimate Networking Gatherings in their local chapter areas that are relevant and valuable to their careers and daily business. Networking Gatherings can focus on an industry, profession, or other affinity or interest group and can range from a casual coffee meet-up to a more structured panel format. For example, you could host a morning coffee meet-up in Denver for alumni working in Advertising and Marketing to talk about the latest trends in the industry.
Use the W&L Alumni Networking Gathering Initiation Form to indicate your interest in initiating a gathering in your area. The Career and Professional Development team will respond within 2-3 business days to help you get started. Contact us at careers@wlu.edu or (540) 458-8595 with questions.
The Career and Professional Development Office works closely with alumni chapters to plan and prepare for chapter-wide career and networking events throughout the year. Our team will work with you to select the best event format for your chapter, target audience and goals, as well as identify fellow alumni, W&L faculty or staff, or other well-known thought-leaders to participate in the event. We will then coordinate with the Office of Alumni Affairs to schedule the event within the broader alumni chapter events calendar, send out invitations and manage registrations for the event. W&L hosts several industry-specific and interdisciplinary events and programs throughout the year, which both serve as educational experiences for current students and bring alumni together to network and share best practices and industry trends.
